Our Most Anticipated Releases for the Summer of 2020

Top Ten Tuesday was an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week we will post our Top Ten of the selected theme.

In creating this list Carmen and Sash discovered, that they don’t follow release schedules. Coming with a list of ten proved to be challenging, but they did manage to find a couple of books that they are looking forward to reading in the fall and next year. They’re ready for those lists!

Cinderella is Dead

It’s 200 years after Cinderella found her prince, but the fairy tale is over. Teen girls are now required to appear at the Annual Ball, where the men of the kingdom select wives based on a girl’s display of finery. If a suitable match is not found, the girls not chosen are never heard from again.

I’ve decided to rejoin the YA squad, at least on a trial basis. What better introduction than a black Cinderella trying to take down the patriarchy?!

For some reason, I really enjoy baking romance stories. Plus it’s great to read a book by a Korean author. Diversify the book world!

Engagement and Espionage

‘Engagement and Espionage’ is the first book in the Solving for Pie: Cletus and Jenn Mysteries series, is a full-length cozy mystery, and is a spin-off of Penny Reid’s Winston Brothers series. This novel is best read after ‘Beard Science,’ Winston Brothers #3.

Cletus and Jenn were my favourite pairing from the Winston Brother series and I’m so excited to see more of them, especially in the context of a cozy mystery.

I read the Knitting in the City series and loved it! So much so that I started my own knitting group. Even though I enjoy the In Death series (J.D Robb) which is a mystery series, I’m not generally a fan of mystery novels. So I’m on the fence about this one, even though I love Penny Reid.

I read TJ Klune’s Bear, Otter and the Kid Series (still reading actually) and am enjoying it immensely. I also like fanfiction so Nick being a fanfiction writer is intriguing.

This is the final book of the series and I’m super excited to see how it ends. This romantic pairing has been teased from the get-go and I can’t wait!! I shipped them so hard.

Women’s History books are my jam. This I think will be an interesting perspective on female nobility and witchcraft. I’ve never before come across a book covering this area, so I’m eagerly awaiting its publication.

Well Played

Stacey is jolted when her friends Simon and Emily get engaged. She knew she was putting her life on hold when she stayed in Willow Creek to care for her sick mother, but it’s been years now, and even though Stacey loves spending her summers pouring drinks and flirting with patrons at the local Renaissance Faire, she wants more out of life. Stacey vows to have her life figured out by the time her friends get hitched at Faire next summer. Maybe she’ll even find The One.

I read the first book of this series Well Met and loved the characters and the setting of a Renaissance fair. I can’t wait to be introduced to these characters and revisit Simon and Emily from the first book.
